What is a Polaroid Emulsion Lift?

In this workshop, we'll experiment with emulsion lifts, a photo manipulation technique in which you transfer a Polaroid image onto paper, wood, or other materials - but we’ll focus on using watercolour paper for this one!

A Polaroid lift image is created when the emulsion layer is removed from a sheet of instant film. The thin piece of emulsion is then, in a few steps, transferred onto a different surface, creating a new work of art.

What to Expect

In this non-darkroom workshop, participants will explore the emulsion transfer technique using Polaroid i-Type Film. First, I'll show everyone how to convert their digital photos from their phones into Polaroid prints using the Polaroid Lab Printer. Then, using the emulsion lift process, we’ll transfer these images onto watercolor paper, creating distinctive and textured pieces.

Sliding Scale

There are two pricing options available in the sliding scale. This model is based on trust, so please take a moment to reflect on your financial situation when choosing your rate. But remember, there's no need to stress—just choose the option that feels right for you.
